Approximately 97 million adults in America are overweight or obese. Being overweight or obese dramatically raises your risk for high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and triglycerides, type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, and respiratory problems, plus endometrial, breast, prostate, and colon cancers. In addition to being at increased health risk, obese individuals often suffer from social stigmatization and discrimination.

Today, with overweight and obesity being the second leading cause of preventable death, losing weight is very important to your health.
